Mixing Contemporary and Antique Furniture

According to New England Home, the Ellis Antiques Show is coming up in just a couple of weeks at the Boston Center for the Arts, featuring a huge selection of fine art, antiques, silver, and other fine home decor items, from many of the best New England antiques dealers. Antique items can be a great addition to an interior design scheme because they are extremely high quality (in order to have survived until now!) and often exhibit breathtaking craftsmanship. But what if you want a younger, more contemporary style for your home?

It really all comes down to how you use what you’ve got. Antiques paired with contemporary furniture, accessories, and art can look stunning. For instance, in this room from our residential decor portfolio, you can see antique chairs coexisting peacefully with edgy, modern sofas. Modern textiles help unite the various pieces for a harmonious effect.
